The Otabor family has been thrown into mourning following the death of Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna.
Ruth, who lost her leg in a ghastly truck accident near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State on August 13, 2025, sadly passed away on the morning of August 31, 2025. In a statement issued by the family’s solicitors, Eko Solicitors & Advocates, the family confirmed her passing and appealed for privacy as they grieve. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Recall that Truth Live News reported weeks ago that Phyna had disclosed the truck which crushed her sister belonged to the Dangote Group and that discussions had been ongoing with the company regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, Phyna, who had been leading a strong campaign for justice on behalf of Ruth, has been hospitalized due to stress. Her relentless fight for accountability reportedly took a heavy toll on her health. Fans and well-wishers have since flooded social media with messages of condolence and support for the grieving family.
