Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing what he described as difficult but necessary reforms, urging Nigerians to remain patient and supportive.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari said the changes being made should not be derailed by domestic political pressures.
He noted that while the reforms are causing economic hardship, especially for vulnerable citizens, they are essential for the country’s long-term stability and prosperity.
Buhari encouraged the public to understand that meaningful change does not happen overnight. He acknowledged the strain many Nigerians are currently feeling but maintained that the pain has a purpose.
He added that addressing challenges like poverty and inflation should not be left to the government alone, calling on the private sector and citizens to contribute in every way they can.
Despite the current difficulties, the former president urged Nigerians to stay hopeful and confident about the country’s future.
He also extended his congratulations to President Tinubu on his second year in office and wished him continued wisdom and care in leadership.
