Nigerian business Magnate, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, is dead.

He died at the age of 67.

According to a statement issued by his family, Oskar passed on after a brief illness.

The family, however, did not disclose further details about the circumstances of his death.

As one of the legendary Ibru dynasty, Oskar played an important role in sustaining and expanding the vast conglomerate founded by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru, who died in 2016.

The Ibru Organisation’sinterests spanned shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce, cementing its place in Nigeria’s business history.

Tributes have begun to pour in from across the nation.

Media entrepreneur and publisher of Ovation International, Dele Momodu, described Ibru as “an extremely friendly gentleman and a socialite par excellence.” Writing on Instagram, Momodu said:

“News has just reached me in the skies that one of Nigeria’s most recognisable businessmen, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, has passed on.

He was an extremely friendly gentleman, a socialite par excellence, loved passionately by family and friends. Rest in peace, dear brother.”

Oskar Ibru’s passing marks another painful chapter for the illustrious family, less than a decade after the loss of its patriarch, Michael Ibru. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in due course.
