NIGERIA, CALABAR – For the first time, Calabar, Cross River State, will host the 66th National Council on Health (NCH), bringing together top policymakers, experts, and health administrators from across Nigeria.
According to a gingle obtained from the Cross River State Government, the event will hold from November 17 to 21, 2025, at the Calabar International Convention Center, starting at 10:00 a.m. daily.
The theme for this year’s council, “My Health, My Right,” emphasizes “Accelerating Universal Health Coverage through Equity, Resilience, and Innovation.” The discussions are expected to shape the future of Nigeria’s healthcare system and strengthen its policy framework.
Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu said the state is honored to host the historic event, describing it as “a great opportunity to showcase Cross River’s hospitality and commitment to improving public health.”
He noted that the council’s focus aligns with his administration’s health agenda, which prioritizes equity and access to quality healthcare services for all residents.

The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, and the Minister of State, Dr. Isiak Adekunle Salako, are expected to lead discussions alongside commissioners, medical experts, and key development partners.
A government gingle stated that the forum will provide a platform for stakeholders to review national health policies, assess state-level progress, and propose innovative strategies to strengthen the sector.
