Chelsea are making significant strides in their pursuit of RB Leipzig’s dynamic attacker Xavi Simons, with personal terms discussions progressing rapidly for a potential 2025/26 season transfer.

The 22-year-old Netherlands international, versatile across the frontline but favoring a central attacking role, is tempted by Chelsea’s ambitious project under Enzo Maresca.

According to Fabrizio Romano, despite interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich, Chelsea are working to outmaneuver rivals, capitalizing on Simons’ reported enthusiasm for the move.

Leipzig, open to negotiations, initially valued Simons at €80m, but Chelsea are pushing for a lower fee, potentially sweetened by interest in Carney Chukwuemeka from the German club.

The Blues’ transfer strategy hinges on outgoings, with João Félix, Christopher Nkunku, and Raheem Sterling likely to depart, while Nicolas Jackson’s future remains uncertain.

Simons’ flair, evidenced by his eight goals and 11 assists in the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, makes him a prime target to enhance Chelsea’s attacking options.

With funds from Renato Veiga’s imminent £40m move to Atletico Madrid, Chelsea are well-positioned to finalize the deal.

Securing Simons could mark a statement of intent, reinforcing Chelsea’s attacking depth as they aim for Premier League glory.
