CALABAR, NIGERIA – The Cross River State Government congratulated Nigerian children on May 27 during the 2025 Children’s Day celebration.
Commissioner for Information, Erasmus Ekpang, issued the statement on behalf of Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s administration.
Ekpang said the government “warmly felicitates all Nigerian children, especially those in Cross River State.”
He emphasized the significance of Children’s Day in promoting child welfare, rights, and protection.
“Children’s Day raises awareness about education, health, child abuse and child labour,” the commissioner stated.

He described the theme “Stand up, Speak up: Building A Bullying-free Generation” as vital to national development.
Ekpang restated the government’s commitment to equal access to education and healthcare for all children.
“The People First Administration prioritizes the well-being of all children in our dear state,” he added.
The statement affirmed that the Child Rights Law is actively implemented in Cross River State.
Governor Otu, according to Ekpang, remains committed to “good governance and protection of children’s rights.”
The commissioner noted that children’s issues “will continue to remain a top priority under Governor Otu.”
This year marks the third of Governor Otu’s “Season of Sweetness,” the statement highlighted.
