The Government of Cross River State has reacted to the purported news of loss of male genital organs in the Calabar metropolis describing it as fake news peddled from the imagination of the bearers.
The Commissioner for information Mr Erasmus Ekpang, in a statement issued on Tuesday advised the public to disregard and should be discountenance in its entirety.
Mr Ekpang said that the Cross River State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer SP Irene Ugbo, named the complainant as Mr Moses Edet Udo, and the suspect as Mrs Atim Inyang Jackson.
He said the command after thorough investigation, it was confirmed that the complainant manhood still was intact.
“To clearly ascertain the veracity of the claim the Commissioner for information visited the police hospital where the complainant was admitted to rest,” Erasmus said, he personally interacted with the victim to the indication that his genital organs were in the right position.“
The statement reads in part that “against this backdrop, that Governmment implored residents and visitors alike to desist from peddling false rumours which is capable of causing disaffection among the citizens.”
The governor of Cross River State Sen Bassey Edet Otu, in his proactive nature has directed security agencies to deal dicicively with rumor mongers and while those caught will be made to face the wrath of the law.
Accordingly, “state Governmment, hereby enjoined all students , residents and visitors to go about their normal businesses without any fear or molestation.”
