DELTA, ASABA – Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has released ₦10 billion to pensioners, aiming to clear outstanding arrears. His Senior Special Assistant on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, confirmed this in a video posted on Facebook.https://www.facebook.com/ossaioviesuccess
Oborevwori announced the release during a meeting with top pension officials, including Sir Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje and Comrade Lawson Efenudu, alongside leaders of contributory retirees at Government House, Asaba.
The governor emphasized that since assuming office, he has consistently prioritized pension payments. “I have never owed pensioners a dime,” Oborevwori stated, highlighting his administration’s monthly disbursement of billions to retirees.
According to him, the newly released funds will settle arrears accumulated before his tenure. He assured pensioners of continued commitment, noting that welfare remains central to his government’s policies.

Leaders of the pension associations expressed appreciation for the intervention. Comrade Anthony Ozu Osanekwu, chairman of the Association of Contributory Retirees, said the payment “restores confidence in government’s responsibility to senior citizens.”
Ossai Ovie Success, in his media post, stressed that Deltans were not disappointed in the governor’s decision. He described the intervention as both timely and ethical, considering retirees’ long years of service.
