A property owner in Okhenmwenre Community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr. Benjamin Iwhotu, has appealed to the state government, the Commissioner of Police and the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, to come to his rescue over the demolition of his house.

He made the appeal when he took Journalists round the demolished property in the community.

Mr. Iwhotu who was visibly in tears, said he bought the land from the traditional ruler of the community and that he has meant all the requirements.

Iwhotu said he doesn’t not live in the property but his elder brother does.

He said he was so surprised to have gotten a phone call from him that some men in military uniforms allegedly came to the house, asked him to sit on the ground while they carry out the demolition of the parts of the building including the perimeter fence.

He said the reasons behind the demolition of the building was not declared to him.

While faulting the attack on his building, he said, if he were invited to be briefed on the reason the building has to be demolished, he would have known what to say or do but to his greatest amazement, there was no communication to that effect.

The distraught Iwhotu further called on the concerned authorities, civil society groups to help him get justice and bring those behind the dastardly act to book.

“I am calling on all well meaning Nigerians, the governor of Edo State, the Commissioner of Police, the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, to all come to my rescue.

” I don’t know what I have done to have my house demolished. Please, Nigerians should come to my rescue and ask those men in uniform of what I have done.

“I don’t know where to start from. It wasn’t easy for me to get this house to this level. I have wife and children. How do I cope with all this? Where do I start from? Please, Nigerians come to my rescue”, Iwhotu pleaded.
