The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a public alert against Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed officer accused of impersonating the agency to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
In a statement, the DSS said Godwin has been using the name of the Service to carry out fraudulent activities. “Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any dealings with him,” the statement read.
The agency urged Nigerians to exercise caution and verify the identity of anyone claiming to represent the DSS before making financial or other commitments. Legitimate enquiries or complaints, the DSS noted, should be directed through official channels — via telephone at 09088373515 or email at dsspr@dss.gov.ng.
The DSS emphasised its commitment to protecting the integrity of its operations and warned that anyone found impersonating the agency would face the full force of the law.
This alert comes shortly after a similar warning concerning Barry Donald, another former officer accused of defrauding the public while falsely presenting himself as a DSS operative.
The Service called on citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities involving anyone claiming affiliation with the DSS.
