“The Edo State House of Assembly, in its continuous effort to promote transparency and accountability in governance, has constituted two ad-hoc committees to investigate the Radisson Blu Hotel and the Museum of West African Arts (MoWA) Projects,” the House announced post-plenary.

In parallel developments, the Assembly adopted a report from the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters on “a Bill for a Law to Repeal the Customary Court of Appeal Law, 2025 and to Enact a Law to Establish the Customary Court of Appeal, Edo State, and for Other Matters Connected Therewith.” The report was considered and adopted by the Committee of the Whole.

The House also endorsed the reinstatement of two dismissed Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) officers: Mrs. Raji Ojo Obafemi and Mr. Kassim Abdullafeez Dania. Employed on October 30, 2015, and confirmed on November 14, 2019, they were sacked on October 18, 2022, over allegations of irregular tax payments into their accounts.

The Committee on Public Petitions noted the EIRS Board’s reconstitution and recommended referral for reinstatement, which the House adopted.

Speaker Hon. Blessing Agbebaku hailed the actions as vital for justice and fiscal oversight.

The House adjourned to Wednesday, October 22, 2025, as stakeholders await the probes’ findings.
