Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has nominated four individuals for appointment as commissioners in his administration.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, who noted that the list of nominees has been forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Those nominated are Dr. Jerry Uwangue, Hon. (Barr.) Kenneth Okoruwa Ihensekhien, Ph.D, Barr. Usenbo Paul Ehigie, and Akhigbe Osi John Sunday.
Dr. Jerry Uwangue, FCISM, is the Managing Director/CEO of J&G Engineering and Construction Services Ltd., with more than two decades of expertise in engineering, procurement, construction, operations and maintenance in the oil, gas, and power sectors. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management and a recipient of the African Leadership Excellence Award.
Hon. (Barr.) Kenneth Okoruwa Ihensekhien, Ph.D, is a lawyer, politician, and public administrator with extensive experience in public service. He previously served as Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly (1999–2003) and held various commissioner portfolios, including Youth & Sports, Energy & Water Resources, and Agriculture & Natural Resources. He also served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor and Principal Private Secretary to the APC National Chairman.
Barr. Usenbo Paul Ehigie brings over 20 years of experience in law and governance. He has worked as General Manager of Regulatory Compliance at FGR Energy Services and as Senior Legislative Aide to the National Assembly, contributing to the development of over 25 bills and motions. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), he is the Principal Partner at Paul Usenbo & Co.
The fourth nominee, Akhigbe Osi John Sunday, is a technocrat and community development advocate known for championing youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and grassroots participation in governance. He has earned recognition for his role in fostering community development and socio-economic growth.
The Edo Assembly is expected to begin the screening process in the coming days.
