Edo Govt. Presents Staff Of Office To Lukman As New Okueokpellagbe Of Okpella

The Edo State government, has put an end to five years kingship tussle by presenting the Staff of Office to Engr. Lukman Oghehemhime Akemokhue as the new Okueokpellagbe of Okpella.

The state government, through its Ministry of Local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affairs, Monday Osaigbovo, while presenting the letter of appointment to him, said that the State Executive Council has approved his appointment as the Okueokpellagbe of Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of the state effect from 26 September, 2024.

He said efforts have also been taken for the publication of his appointment in the state Gazette.

However, the ceremony was later moved to his house where the Staff of Office was officially presented to him.

Presenting him with the Staff of Office, Pastor Osabuohien Michael, Director for Chieftaincy Affairs, Edo State, charged the new Okueokpellagbe of Okpella to see his new position as a call to rule his people with fairness and equity.

Responding, the newly installed Okueokpellagbe of Okpella, Engr. Lukman Oghehemhime Akemokhue said he is going to act according to his title, Okueokpellagbe which means a unifier.

While calling for forgiveness from those he may have offended before and during the selection process, he said he has also forgiven everyone that may have also wronged him.

He thanked the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki for putting an end to the kingship tussle that has lingered on for five years.
