Former lawmaker in the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated Thursday, July 17, 2025, Iduoriyekemwen informed the party of his decision, with the letter duly acknowledged by his Ward Chairman, Mr. Andrew Esemuede.
Describing the move as a difficult but necessary step, the former PDP leader stated, “This is a painstaking decision for me, as the PDP has played a vital role in my political journey and personal development; for this, I remain deeply grateful and will always cherish the platform the Party provided me.”
His exit adds to the growing list of recent defections from the PDP in Edo State, as political realignments continue ahead of the forthcoming elections. Iduoriyekemwen hails from Ward 5 in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
