Edo Police Rescue Seven Kidnapped Victims In Ewohimi Forest

The Edo State Police Command has rescued seven kidnapped victims from a forest in Ewohimi, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

It was said that the rescue was followed by the abduction of one Mr. William Omozokpia, 65, who was kidnapped alongside six others while working on his farm in the Ikeken Forest on Saturday, 1st November 2025. His son, Enoch Omozokpia, had raised the alarm, prompting swift action from the authorities.

Acting on the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Ewohimi led a combined team of police operatives, soldiers, and local vigilantes on a search-and-rescue mission.

The team combed through the forest, engaging in a tense operation that forced the kidnappers to flee, abandoning their captives.

Mr. Innocent Ebarekor, Mrs. Rachel Ebarekor, Miss Efuah Ebarekor, Master Winner Ebarekor, Mr. William Omozokpia, and Mr. Lucky Igiese (popularly known as Bulala) — were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families.

Commending the courage and professionalism of the security team, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, praised the joint effort that led to the successful operation.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the state, adding that efforts are underway to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
