Speaker of the Edo State Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Fawaz Muhammad, has called on the Nigerian youths to be actively involved in the nation’s politics.
He made the call in Benin while x-raying the life and times of some of the Nigeria nationalists who at their very youthful age, fought for the emancipation of this country from the grips of the colonial masters.
Hon. Muhammad said the Independence Nigerians are enjoying today was made possible by the voice of the young Anthony Enahoro’s of blessed memory.
Muhammad said the Nigerian youths can borrow a leaf from him and begin to take interest in politics by registering for a political party in their various wards.
He said from there, they can begin to learn the ropes adding that, they as youths, they are endowed with immense potentials and ability to move the nation forward.
The Speaker said one of the ways that such can easily be done is to get involved in the nation’s politics as the era of taking the backseat is over.
Speaker Muhammad while congratulating the youths on their recent International Youth Day celebration, thanked them for being resilient despite the economic woes.
He encourage them not to give up hope on the country as they stand a better chance of righting its wrongs.
While also appealing to the youths in Edo State and Nigeria by extension to shun cultism and other related social vices, he said together, they can build a better and a prosperous Nigeria.
“I want to use this medium to congratulate my fellow youths for having a successful Youth Day celebration.
“With the successful celebration, we have demonstrated that this country is our own to love, cherish and nurture because nobody can do that for us.
“For that singular reason, let us shun cultism, violence and other social vices that will tarnish our image as the leaders of tomorrow.
“We must start to build it now. We must start to do the right thing now and we must get ourselves involved in the nation’s politics.
“We must not take the backseat anymore because this is the only way we can be the leaders of tomorrow”, Muhammad added.
