Eno Releases ₦60bn For Contractors After Signing ₦695bn Extra Budget

NIGERIA, UYO – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has signed into law the ₦695 billion 2025 supplementary budget passed by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

The signing took place on Wednesday during the October edition of the State’s Project Delivery Meeting held at Government House, Uyo.

Governor Eno, according to information shared by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, thanked the Speaker and members of the House for the prompt passage of the budget.

He reiterated his commitment to transparency, accountability, and people-centered governance, emphasizing that every expenditure must reflect service to the people.

“All hands are on deck to ensure we carry out our duties with probity and dedication. This budget will further energize our efforts in project implementation,” Governor Eno stated.

To fast-track development, the Governor announced the release of ₦60 billion to contractors whose Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) were ready. He urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to ensure strict adherence to project timelines and standards.

The meeting featured over a dozen presentations on key projects including the Tree Crop Revolution, Ibom Tourism Summit, Arise Resort, Oron Maritime Jetty, CNG City Bus Project, and the renovation of the State Assembly Complex.

Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, praised the Governor’s inclusive leadership and innovative approach to governance.

“We have never witnessed this level of delivery review before. It gives us a clear view of progress across all sectors,” Otong said, describing it as a model of oversight and accountability.

Stakeholders, including Senator Effiong Bob, also commended Governor Eno for sustaining the monthly project review meetings, calling them a testament to ethical leadership and fiscal responsibility.

They pledged continued support for his administration’s developmental agenda aimed at building what they described as Team Akwa Ibom United.

The event was attended by Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary to the State Government Prince Enobong Uwah, and other top government officials.
