From being accused as seperatist operative in Lagos, a sentiment which helped him nearly pull off at upset against seasoned politician, James Falake at the Ikeja Federal Constituency election on February 25, Mutiu Kunle Okunola, of late, has made a 360 turnaround attacking his own party and Igbos, accusing them of not protecting his votes well enough.
He made this comfounding allegations in a video, a copy of which is in possession of Truthlive News.
In the video, Okunola admits that the ‘Obidient’ within the LP is an organic movement.
“I only used the party to test waters but I did not pull anybody from APC to LP,” he said.
“I spent all my life savings on the party,” he added, saying that Peter Obi, the President candidate of the party didn’t give him a Kobo to run his campaign.
“But they are childish and do everything on internet.
“Everything about them is about Yibo (Igbo)” he said.
He accused the movement of not protecting his votes well enough because he is Yoruba.
Okunola pulled an upset ahead the main opposition party, People’s Democratic Party, PDP with controversial reports showing that he actually won the election but INEC insisting Faleke won.
Okunola’s outburst is however strange considering that he got political fame on account of alleged polical persecution.
In exclusive interview he once granted to the news platform, the politician alleged that he faced orchestration from Faleke, candidate candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He alleged that his life was in danger during the run up to the February 25 election from the hands of the lawmaker currently representing Ikeja at the National Assembly.
As learnt, a petition allegedly sponsored by Falake to the police had MKO arrested on allegations of possession of illegal firearms and training of members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
In his defense, he said it was all campaign gimmick to get him out of the way.
“I am a farmer with 500 acres of land.
“I got a license for a gun for my farm from where they recorded a video of where I was testing the gun in the farm.
“So rather than say that the gun was being tested on the farm Faleke alleged that I was training IPOB in Lagos.
“Because matter is related to arms, they wanted to get a remand notice and have me detained until election is over.
“I went to police and they conducted search and they saw that what I had was a farm not a training ground,” he said.
Despite Okunola’s early lead during the election, Faleke was later declared winner by INEC.
