Manchester City have been charged by the Football Association with failing to control their players in Sunday’s 3-3 Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad.
It would be recalled that City’s players surrounded referee Simon Hooper when he awarded a free-kick to City late in stoppage time after it looked like Jack Grealish was through on goal.
The build up to that development was that Hooper had initially indicated that City had the advantage by waving play on, but halted the match once the pass was played.
With the charge, the FA is giving City until Thursday, 7 December to respond to the charge.
According to the BBC, an FA statement said the Treble winners “failed to ensure their players do not behave in a way which is improper.”
It is the third Premier League game in succession that City have drawn, having also been held by Liverpool and Chelsea.
They sit third in the Premier League with a three-point gap to leaders Arsenal.
