ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) on Monday sealed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja.

Nation Newspaper reports the action followed PDP’s failure to pay statutory ground rent for several years.

At 2:04 p.m., Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) officials, backed by armed security personnel, stormed Wadata Plaza.

Party staff locked the gate from inside, preventing entry, prompting the FCDA team to chain the gate shut.

A large seal notice read, “This property is now owned by FCTA. 26-5-25,” and was posted at the entrance.

An FCDA officer, declining to be named, said, “We acted under orders. The party must settle its dues.”

PDP officials have yet to respond officially but described the action as “politically motivated,” according to Nation sources.

Meanwhile, PDP leaders are meeting at Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro to discuss the development.
