Abuja, Nigeria
In a decisive step toward transforming Nigeria’s road network, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a monumental N733 billion for the completion of four major road projects across the country. These long-awaited projects, inherited from the previous administration, are set to redefine connectivity, boost economic activities, and improve the daily lives of millions.
Truth Live News gathered that the approvals cover:
Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road (N507 billion) – Spanning 164 kilometers, this critical highway will enhance travel and trade in Northern Nigeria. InfoWest Nigeria Ltd. has been tasked with delivering this essential infrastructure.
Ibadan-Ilorin Road, Section 2 (N147 billion) – The Ogbomosho segment will be dualized using reinforced concrete pavement for unmatched durability. The contract is awarded to GRVe Construction Ltd.
Odupani-Itu-Idedem Item-Ikot Ekpene Road (N55 billion) – Connecting Cross River and Akwa Ibom, this strategic road will accelerate economic ties between the two states. Decon Construction Nigeria Ltd. will lead the execution.
Flyover at Abakpa, Enugu (N24 billion) – To ease congestion near the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, FEC approved this crucial project, awarding it to CCECC.
Unlike previous road contracts plagued by delays, the Federal Government is rolling out bold new policies to ensure timely completion and eliminate project abandonment:
✔️ Contractors must commence work for at least two weeks before receiving mobilisation fees.
✔️ Advance Payment Guarantee (APG) and Performance Bonds are mandatory, ensuring funds are used strictly for project execution.
This investment signals a new dawn for Nigeria’s infrastructure development, reaffirming the government’s commitment to excellence, transparency, and speed. With these roads completed, commerce will thrive, travel will be safer, and economic opportunities will expand nationwide.
This is not just about roads, though they are the major trunk road for 40% of Nigeria’s transporters and economy, it’s more about progress, prosperity, and a Nigeria that works for all!
