A fire engulfed a temporary building at the premises of Geometric Power, operators of Aba Power, Nigeria’s newest electricity distribution company (DisCo), on Monday morning.
The incident occurred at the Osisioma Industrial Layout in Aba, Abia State.
According to a statement by Geometric Power Management, the building was previously used by a South African electricity firm and had been largely unused for over 12 years.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but it was contained by Geometric Power staff before the arrival of the Abia State Fire Service.
The management commended their staff and the fire service for their prompt response and professionalism as no injuries or significant damage were reported.
However, an investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to follow.
