From Grants To Buses: See How 620 People Just Got Empowered In Akwa Ibom

AKWA IBOM, UYO – In a continued effort to bridge the gap between the government and the people, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rural development and economic empowerment.

Speaking at the Federal Constituencies Town Hall Meeting & Empowerment Series for Abak, Etim Ekpo, and Ika Federal Constituency, the Governor emphasized the importance of direct engagement and inclusivity in governance.

As part of the empowerment initiative, 620 beneficiaries received financial grants and equipment support to boost their businesses and improve livelihoods.

The breakdown of the support includes: ₦5 million each for 6 beneficiaries, ₦500,000 each for 178 farmers under the ARISE Farmers Grant, Grants ranging from ₦150,000 to ₦700,000 for 442 individuals and 198 artisans to receive essential equipment support.

Governor Eno urged the beneficiaries to utilize the grants wisely and remain committed to hard work, highlighting that the initiative aligns with his administration’s ARISE Agenda for economic prosperity.

Further demonstrating his dedication to empowering women in business, the Governor announced that on March 11, 15 minibuses would be distributed to female commercial drivers to enhance their economic opportunities.
