RIVERS, PORT HARCOURT – Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his wife worshipped Sunday at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Opobo Kingdom, to express gratitude to God for “boundless mercy, divine guidance and steadfast love,” he announced on his Facebook page.

Fubara said the thanksgiving service gave them an opportunity to appreciate the church and Rivers people “whose fervent prayers remain our reservoir of strength and courage on this journey of service.”

He stressed that the citizens’ spiritual support sustains his administration’s resolve to lead with integrity. “Your prayers encourage us to serve with commitment and to uphold ethical standards,” the governor added.

Marking International Peace Day, Fubara promised to promote harmony in governance. He said his government would “continue to walk together in harmony, guided by faith, unity and a sense of purpose,” underscoring the moral duty of leaders to pursue peace.

A senior cleric at St. Paul’s Cathedral, who led the prayers, urged public officials to “anchor their decisions on fairness and compassion,” calling situational ethics vital in building trust between government and citizens.

Congregants welcomed the governor’s message. Mrs. Bridget Opubo, a church member, said the governor’s presence “reinforces our belief that political leaders should remain accountable to both God and the people.”

The governor concluded his message with, “To God alone be the glory,” reaffirming that public service requires humility and reliance on divine guidance to maintain unity and ethical leadership across Rivers State.
