Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring religious equality in the state, emphasizing that Muslims and Christians must have equal rights.
Governor Mohammed made this statement during a condolence visit to Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, in Jos, where he expressed sympathy over the passing of Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni and Sheikh Hassan Saeed Jingir.
While speaking with Governor Mutfwang, Mohammed defended his government’s policy of constructing and refurbishing churches in Bauchi, stating that it is a fundamental right of Christian citizens.
“You renovated a mosque as the governor of plateau state, but that has never been done before.
“It may look very small, but that is what we are doing in Bauchi.
” We build churches. We renovate churches because it is their right.
” They are also citizens of the state,” Governor Mohammad stated.
He highlighted that both Muslims and Christians must have equal rights in the state.
Governor Mohammed also reflected on the loss of Sheikh Jingir, describing him as a highly respected Islamic cleric whose impact on the Muslim community would be deeply felt.
Additionally, Mohammed praised Governor Mutfwang’s leadership style, commending him for fostering an inclusive administration and pledging Bauchi’s continued support.
