UYO, NIGERIA – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, on May 24 reaffirmed his administration’s focus on security and infrastructure by donating five additional patrol vehicles to the State Police Command and leading a comprehensive review of ongoing projects across the state.
Presenting the vehicles at Government House, Uyo, Gov. Eno declared, “We must not allow criminality to thrive in this State,” stressing the need for a secure environment to drive development. The donation complements 20 previously distributed Toyota Hilux trucks.
The Governor praised Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, for enhancing the state’s security profile. “I received commendation from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations on your efficiency. CP, you are doing well,” Eno stated.
CP Azare expressed gratitude, describing the Governor’s support as “second to none in Nigeria,” and pledged effective deployment of the patrol vehicles to ensure public safety.
Meanwhile, at the Monthly Projects Review Meeting held from May 22–24 at the Government House Banquet Hall, Eno presided over a two-day appraisal involving 48 of 57 ongoing state projects.

According to the Governor, the meeting was aimed at ensuring projects align with the ARISE Agenda. “Leadership must go beyond expectations to measurable outcomes,” Eno said, urging synergy among commissioners and advisors for effective project delivery.
He announced the flag-off of a 5,000-seater international convention center and a 200-bed Ibom Hotel on May 24, reinforcing the administration’s development drive.
Among the projects reviewed were the Ibom Tourism Summit, ARISE Park, Ibom Hotel renovation, Dialysis Center, Mother and Child Hospital, Ibom Multi-Specialist Hospital, and the Ibom Convention Center. Others include road infrastructure, industrial parks, housing estates, healthcare facilities, markets, and educational institutions.
“The focus remains on governance, not party politics,” Eno emphasized, assuring prudent resource management and continued accountability in delivering people-centered development.
A statement by the chief press secretary Ekerete Udoh said the meeting was attended by members of the State Executive Council, project delivery advisors, and stakeholders.
