Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has commenced the payment of #10,000 monthly stipend to corps members serving in the State.
This is disclosed in a statement issued by the State NYSC spokeperson, Ugochukwu Orunta made available to newsmen in Owerri on Thursday.
According to Orunta, the governor had previously promised to prioritize the welfare of corps members in the state and the gesture was in fulfilment of that pledge.
“Gov. Hope Uzodimma has approved and begun payment of ₦10,000 as monthly allowance to each corps member in the state,” the statement said.
He added that the improved welfare would encourage the corps members to contribute greatly to the state’s and Nigeria’s overall development.
He continued by saying that the governor had urged the corps members to put in a focused, disciplined, and resourceful service year.
Meanwhile, the corps members, In respond to the governor’s gesture, thank the governor and pledged to reciprocate the gesture by putting in their best in their respective Places of Primary Assignment and host communities, ” said the statement.
