Governor’s Wife Celebrates Teachers With Gifts To Mark Husband’s 66th Birthday

NIGERIA, CALABAR – In commemoration of Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s 66th birthday, his wife, Bishop Dr. (Mrs) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, extended goodwill to teachers across the Central and Northern Senatorial Districts of Cross River State.

The governor’s wife distributed several bags of rice, colorful fabrics, and cash gifts to teachers drawn from 12 local government areas as part of the celebration.

Speaking during the presentation, Bishop Dr. Otu said the gesture was to appreciate teachers for their contributions to nurturing future leaders and for supporting the “People First” administration of her husband.

“This celebration is about gratitude,” she said. “Teachers play a vital role in building the next generation. My family honors their efforts through this token of love.”

According to her, the initiative also reflects the family’s commitment to empowering grassroots communities through consistent acts of compassion and inclusion.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with reporters described the gesture as timely, given the current economic challenges. They praised the governor’s wife for remembering teachers during her husband’s birthday celebration.

A teacher from Yala Local Government, Mrs. Agnes Ogar, expressed joy, saying, “This support came at the right time. It shows we are valued for our service to society.”

The distribution took place in various centers where bags of rice, rolls of fabric, and cash envelopes were handed out to teachers in an atmosphere of appreciation and excitement.
