A teacher identified as Mr Auta Nasela has been killed by gunmen who stormed the Government Science Secondary School Eggon, Nasarawa State.
According to a source within the school who spoke with journalists on Sunday and pleaded anonymity, the attack occurred at about 8:00 pm on Saturday.
He said, the gunmen entered the school premises, went straight to the residence of the deceased and asked him to give them money.
The deceased was said to have ran to his neighbour’s apartment, but was chased and shot by one of the gunmen.
Another staff of the school was also shot but survived the attack, adding that he was rushed to hospital for medical attention, one Timothy Malle, a staff of the school said.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel while confirming the incident said it was case of armed robbery attack.
He said, “Yesterday, around 8:45 pm, a distress call was received from the GSS Nasarawa-Eggon that hoodlums invaded the residence of one Auta Nasela.
“When they gained entrance, they started demanding for money but the man who escaped to his neighbour’s house, but one of the hoodlums followed him and shot him.
“He was rushed to the General Hospital Nassarawa-Eggon by the police, but unfortunately, he died while receiving treatment,” Nansel added.
The police had since commenced investigation into the matter with a view to arrest and bring the perpetrators to book, he added.
