A 15-year-old boy, Ali Goni, was killed in a violent attack by herders on farmers in Monguno Local Government Area, Borno State, early Wednesday morning.

The incident, which occurred around 5:00 a.m. in Kawuram bush, also left 25-year-old Modu Suri injured, Zagazola Makama reports.

According to sources, the attack began when herders allegedly led their cattle to graze on farmlands in Abbari ward, Monguno. When farmers attempted to drive the cattles away, the herders attacked. “The herders attacked them, inflicting fatal machete injuries on one Ali Goni, aged 15, and shooting another, Modu Suri, 25, with a bow and arrow,” a source confirmed.

A combined team of military, police tactical units, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters responded swiftly, evacuating the victims to the General Hospital in Monguno.

Tragically, Goni was pronounced dead on arrival. Suri, who sustained injuries, is receiving treatment and responding well. Goni’s remains have been released to his family for burial.

Authorities are investigating, and security forces have been deployed to prevent further violence.
