KOGI, LOKOJA -The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has uncovered a fake results syndicate within the institution, leading to the suspension of five staff members, including a Deputy Registrar.
According to a report by Leadership on Wednesday, Professor Ogbo made the revelation during a press briefing in Lokoja, where he described the act as “a serious threat to the integrity and reputation” of the Polytechnic.
He said the fraudulent network was discovered through an internal investigation initiated after complaints over irregularities in some students’ academic records.
“The management of this institution will never compromise standards or allow anyone to destroy the hard-earned credibility of our certificates,” the Rector stated.

Professor Ogbo explained that the suspended staff were found to have manipulated students’ results for selfish interests, thereby violating the ethics of the academic community.
“The affected staff members, including one Deputy Registrar and four others, have been suspended pending the outcome of ongoing investigations,” Leadership quoted him as saying.
He assured that appropriate disciplinary actions would be taken in accordance with civil service rules and the Polytechnic’s internal regulations once the investigation is concluded.
Professor Ogbo commended the internal monitoring team for its vigilance, noting that the exposure of the syndicate was proof of the institution’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
He warned that the Polytechnic under his leadership would not tolerate corruption or any unethical practice capable of undermining academic excellence.
“We will continue to strengthen our internal control systems to protect the integrity of our examination and certification processes,” he added.
Leadership further reported that the Rector urged staff and students to remain upright in their duties and learning, emphasizing that those found guilty of misconduct would face the full weight of institutional discipline.
He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to restore public confidence in the Polytechnic through honesty, diligence, and merit-driven reforms.
