Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage, has revealed that she is open to becoming a second wife, saying most of her eligible suitors are either much older or already married.
The mother of one made this startling admission during a recent appearance on the popular American podcast Lip Service. Her comments began trending online on Friday, sparking widespread reactions from fans and followers.
Savage explained that she has reached a stage in her life where her dating options have become constrained, with most potential suitors being either significantly older or already married.
“I’m like a sugar mama, but I don’t want to be,” the singer joked, outlining her dilemma. “If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. So, I don’t know. Maybe I can be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife.”
Elaborating further, Savage pitched herself as an ideal, low-maintenance partner in a polygamous setting. She assured any potential first wife that she would be respectful and non-confrontational.
“I think I can go along with the first wife and she’s going to love me because I’m not going to be troublesome,” Savage stated. “I’m going to be going on tours, I’m not really going to stress you. I’m very respectful, I know that you are the first wife and would accord you that respect.”
Tiwa Savage was previously married to music executive Tunji Balogun, popularly known as TBillz. The couple tied the knot in a lavish 2013 wedding but their marriage ended in a highly publicized divorce in 2018. Their union produced a son, Jamil.
The split was followed by a period of intense media scrutiny, with both parties publicly accusing each other of infidelity. Savage’s latest comments offer a glimpse into her current perspective on love and partnership as she navigates life as a single mother and global music icon.
