Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has reignited public debate after openly advocating for polygamy, asserting that having multiple wives brings men “stability and balance.”
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, Nwoko dismissed criticism of his marital lifestyle and addressed fresh allegations of domestic violence leveled against him by his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
When questioned on how he manages life with four wives, the senator likened monogamy to “standing on one leg,” describing it as unstable and unnatural.
“Just imagine standing on one foot. You know how difficult it is,” Nwoko explained. “But to stand on two, three, or four is much more balanced. I feel sorry for those who have one wife—it’s difficult to stand on one leg.”
Pressed on whether his beliefs align with Christian teachings, the lawmaker argued that the Old Testament supports polygamy.
“The Old Testament does. But that’s not what we are here for,” he added, maintaining that he has no regrets about his choices. “I will do the same thing again. You should marry who you want to marry.”
Addressing allegations made by Regina Daniels in a viral video on October 18, Nwoko categorically denied any act of domestic violence.
“I am not a violent person,” he said. “I respect my wives. I love them and my kids.”
In the viral clip, Daniels appeared emotional outside her Abuja residence, saying:
“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a Queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence—it’s too much.”
Just hours before Nwoko’s TV appearance, Daniels shared photos and videos of a new mansion on Instagram, captioned:
“In my house, I am a Queen! I needed a roof over my head, so I got this for me and my family.”
The post intensified public speculation about the state of their six-year marriage, which has often been a subject of public fascination due to their significant age difference and high-profile status.
The couple’s marital troubles have played out on social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans and critics alike. While Nwoko maintains his household is built on “respect and love,” observers note that the escalating tension may signal deeper issues.
