The 2023 governorship candidate on the platform of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has said he would rather go back to his family and business than supporting President Bola Tinubu in order for him to become the state governor in 2027.

He said doing so would be a complete waste of time for him.

Truth Live News Media reports that
Rhodes-Vivour said this while replying to questions in an appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’,

“I will rather go and focus on my business, my work, and my family. That [aligning with Tinubu] will be a complete waste of time.

“The reason why we are in politics is to make the lives of Lagosians better; it is to restore Lagos to its old glory — glory that a lot of people might not really be familiar with in terms of the history of Lagos, and the greatness that Lagos once was,” he said.

Rhodes-Vivour added that any party that would not allow him to maximise the commonwealth of Lagos for the benefit of its people is a complete waste of time.

According to him, Lagos would be better if the domination of what he termed as “agberocracry” was expunged.

Rhodes-Vivour, who recently defected from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that his motivation was to challenge the ruling party.

He also stated that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, was aware of his choice to join the ADC.

When asked if he would run for Lagos State governorship in 2027 on the ADC platform, he replied, “By God’s grace.”
