Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and some distinguished Southeast PDP Chieftains have shunned the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar during a visit to the Southeast.
Atiku Abubakar visited the Southeast stakeholders in Enugu with only Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in attendance.
As the presidential candidate visited with other party candidates in the area, Ikpeazu was noticeably absent.
The PDP newly appointed chairman of the board of trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, the party’s national secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s candidates for governor in the states of Abia, Enugu, and Ebonyi, as well as some senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, all attended the meeting, which began at around 1.30 p.m.
Ikpeazu, a devoted supporter of Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike, was rumored to have skipped the meeting due to unresolved matters surrounding the party’s presidential primary election.
As supporters of Wike, Wike’s associates had sworn not to join the Atiku-created Presidential Campaign Council.
