Two Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officers were kidnapped by suspected bandits in Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State, on September 10, while returning from duty.

The victims, Orasuur Oliver Orseer and Orwese David James, were stationed at the Immigration Forward Operations Base in Adikpo and had been deployed to a border checkpoint in Ugbema, Buruku LGA.

According to sources, the officers were traveling on a motorcycle to Zaki-Biam, Ukum LGA, after completing their shift when they were intercepted. “After they closed from duty, the officers travelled on their motorcycle to Zaki-Biam, Ukum LGA. On their way back, they were intercepted and abducted by suspected local bandits to an unknown destination,” sources told Zagazola Makama.

The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Kwande by an immigration officer, Shiekaa Yosev, on September 18.

The anti-kidnapping and tactical teams have been deployed to rescue the officers and apprehend the suspects. Authorities are actively investigating the case, with efforts underway to locate the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice. “Investigation was ongoing and further developments would be communicated,” sources assured.

The NIS and local police are intensifying efforts to ensure the safe return of the officers, while the community awaits updates on the situation.
