Insecurity Hinders Immunization Efforts in Plateau — Health Board

The Plateau State Primary Health Care Development Board has attributed the high rate of zero-dose immunization in four local government areas to persistent insecurity.

Dr. Yakubu Dauda Izang, Director of Disease Control and Immunisation, identified Wase, Kanam, Shendam, and Qua’an Pan LGAs as areas with the highest number of zero-dose children.

According to Dr. Izang, insecurity has displaced residents, limiting access to healthcare services, including immunization.

However, the state has seen improvements, with more parents bringing their children for immunization due to government efforts to tackle insecurity.

Truth Live News reports that the Big Catch-Up Immunisation Campaign, supported by UNICEF, seeks to close the gap in zero-dose immunization.

The campaign’s launch in Jos South amplified the importance of immunization in preventing deadly diseases and ensuring a healthier future.

The First Lady of Jos South Local Government Council, Mercy Silas Patrick, urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to participate actively.
