The political temperature within the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is rising once again, as disturbing revelations point to a new wave of internal manipulation allegedly being orchestrated by some powerful interests bent on undermining the leadership of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo and the State Chairman of the party, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe.
According to credible findings by Truth Live News International, recent developments in the party indicate that the Minister of Niger Delta Development, *Hon. Abubakar Momoh may be playing out a script allegedly designed by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who appears determined to reassert total control over the party machinery in Edo State.
From all indications, this move is not just a personal ambition but a calculated political strategy aimed at weakening the influence of the governor ahead of the 2027 elections. Sources within the party disclosed that Senator Oshiomhole, who is believed to have opposed Okpebholo’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate in 2024, has continued to view the governor’s independent posture as a political threat.
A reliable party chieftain close to both the state and national leadership of the APC confided in Truth Live News that Oshiomhole believes the removal of the state party chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, is the only viable route to destabilise the Okpebholo administration and prevent him from securing a second term ticket.
“For Oshiomhole’s team, with the party chairman, Emperor Jaret Tenebe, still loyal to the governor, it will be difficult to remove the governor or deny him the second term ticket. Hence the need to ensure that Tenebe is removed from office before the end of the year,” our source said.
However, the same insider confidently dismissed the plan as a futile mission. According to him, the attempt to remove Tenebe will fail because he enjoys overwhelming support from the grassroots, the state executive committee, and even key figures in Abuja who have observed his stabilising influence within the Edo APC.
“There will be no congress; the Exco will be given another tenure. The kind of life and acceptance Tenebe has brought to the party since he became chairman is something even President Tinubu is aware of and appreciates. If not for Tenebe, the APC would have remained divided, especially in Edo North, where Oshiomhole has always struggled to maintain support. With Jaret, unity and strength returned to the party,” the source added.
Indeed, under the leadership of Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, the APC in Edo State has witnessed a revival that many thought impossible. His grassroots approach, open-door leadership, and unwavering loyalty to the party and its elected governor have earned him admiration across party lines.
