The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, has emphasized that the integrity of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) must not be compromised by technical lapses or human errors.

Kalu made this statement while addressing a press conference on the 2025 JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) technical crisis.

He described the technical glitch experienced by JAMB as a preventable human error within the system, rather than a failure on the part of the candidates or a deliberate act of sabotage.

He emphasized that the massive outcry that followed the release of this year’s results, and the subsequent technical review, demands not only transparency but decisive action to restore in the education system .

The Deputy Speaker called for an independent and transparent audit of JAMB’s examination infrastructure to prevent future occurrences.

He also urged JAMB to implement stronger deployment validation protocols and real-time monitoring mechanisms.

Kalu commended JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede’s apology but noted that it didn’t erase the trauma experienced by affected candidates and their families.

“To the affected candidates: your frustration is valid, and your voices have been heard,” Kalu said.

“The integrity of our national examinations must never be compromised by technical lapses or human error.”
