Hamas fired a barrage of rockets at cities in Israel’s south in response to the Israeli killing of civilians in Gaza, with about 10 projectiles launched, most of which were successfully intercepted by Israel’s military.
One person was treated for shrapnel injuries, and Israeli emergency services were dispatched to locations where rockets had fallen.
The Israeli military responded by issuing a new evacuation order for residents in several districts of Deir Al-Balah city in the central Gaza Strip, warning of an impending attack.
Israeli military strikes killed at least 39 people across the Gaza Strip, with the military later striking the rocket launcher from which projectiles were launched.
The conflict has resulted in significant human suffering, with over 44,000 people killed and nearly all of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents displaced.
The Israeli military’s operations in Gaza have also impacted critical infrastructure, including Kamal Adwan Hospital, which was struck by an Israeli drone, injuring its director.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, en route to a meeting with US President Donald Trump, ordered a vigorous response to the rocket attack and approved continued intensive military activity against Hamas.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas has been ongoing, with both parties blaming each other for a stalemate in ceasefire talks.
