Israel launched airstrikes on Yemen’s key Hodeidah port and nearby facilities, injuring nearly 21 people, in retaliation for a Houthi missile that landed near Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport.

The Israel military confirmed it targeted “terrorist infrastructure” in and around the port, including a cement factory allegedly used to build tunnels and other military structures.

The Houthis reported attacks by the US and Israel on Hudaydah port and the concrete plant, located about 50 kilometers east of Hudaydah, resulting in two deaths and 42 injuries.

The strikes come a day after eight people were injured when the Houthis fired a ballistic missile at Ben Gurion International Airport outside Tel Aviv, marking the first time a missile struck the airport grounds since the Gaza war began.

The Houthi militia has repeatedly attacked Israel and international merchant ships in support of Palestinian militant organization Hamas since the Gaza conflict started in October 2023.

The Houthis have also warned international airlines to suspend flights to Israeli airports, declaring Ben Gurion Airport a primary target, and have notified global aviation bodies of their intent to repeatedly strike Israel airports.

“Since Israel’s military resumed attacks in the Gaza Strip on March 18 after a ceasefire broke down, the Houthis have resumed regularly firing projectiles towards Israel,” the reports added.
