The Cross Rivers State Commissioner for Women Affairs Prof Gertrude Nnanjar Njar has been released by her abductors after 38 Days in Captivity.
Recall that the Associate Prof was kidnapped while driving back home on the February 1, 2023 at Main Avenue Calabar South LGA, south south region of Nigeria.
The victim who is said to be receiving medical treatment in an undisclosed hospital took the intervention of Troops of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army Calabar, deployed for Operation Akpakwu.
However, Truth Live News learnt that N2.7m has been paid as ransom to effect her release.
Prof Njar was rescued around Peter Effiong Creek, Messembe, Jebs Calabar South LGA by the gallant troops whose present intimidated the kidnappers to abandone the victim and fled into the creeks. Reports said.
While Assistant Director Army Public Relations Capt Dorcas Oluwatope Aluko, urging the general public to continue providing timely and accurate information on criminal activities within their vicinities. Captain Aluko commended the troop’s effort and charged them to sustain the tempo.
