… As Tribunal admits evidence of multiple Over voting at polling Units in Ward 2, Ovia South West LGA
Facts emerging from the ongoing Edo Governorship Election Tribunal proceedings clearly indicate that Edo Deputy Governor, Hon Dennis Idahosa is set to lose his Electoral ward following revelations of multiple over voting in favor of APC in some Polling Units in Ovia South West LGA.
Leading evidence at the Tribunal with suit no: *EPT/ED/GOV/02/2024*, a witness and LGA Collation Agent testified that the total number of votes cast far exceeded the total number of accredited voters in many polling units in Idahosa’s Ward 2 and Ovia South West LGA.
He showed conclusive proof of the over voting relying on INEC certified CTC copies of Result sheets Form EC8A-C in the area, original IREV results, and CTCs of Bvas accreditation report and extracts etc
S.51(2) of the Electoral Act 2022 clearly provides that where the number of votes cast at an election in any polling unit exceeds the number of accredited voters in that polling unit, the Presiding officer shall cancel the result of the election in that polling unit.
This development has unsettled the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Edo State as all frantic efforts and attempts to intimidate and prevent the Ovia South West LGA Collation Agent from giving his testimony in court today proved abortive.
