Suspected herdsmen launched a deadly attack on Tse Yange, a Tiv-dominated community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, killing the village head and abducting several residents.
The attackers stormed the agrarian community on motorbikes late Sunday night, unleashing terror and destruction that lasted into the early hours of Monday.
Many people were injured, and several homes were deserted, with the exact number of abducted and injured persons still unclear as security operatives and community members conduct headcounts and rescue efforts.
The incident has sparked panic among residents, with one eyewitness describing the scene as “a war zone” where gunmen rode in on motorbikes, shooting sporadically and forcing people to flee into the bush for safety.
