As the general elections draws closer, the mother body of universities in Nigeria, National Universities Commission NUC, has ordered the total closure of all universities across the country, so that all university students can participate in the forthcoming elections.

In a letter seen by a Truth live news correspondent, which was addressed to all Vice Chancellors of Universities and directors of inter-university centres, in the country, the deputy Executive Secretary (administration) Chris J. Maiyaki, ordered that all institutions be closed for three weeks, starting from Wednesday February 22nd to Tuesday March 14th, to enable all eligible students, the opportunity to vote.

This announcement is coming after celebrities and some Nigerians questioned the Federal government on why students are still in school when elections are approaching.

The 2023 general elections have been scheduled to hold on Saturday February 25th for the Presidential and National Assembly elections and Saturday March 11th for the governorship and state assembly elections.
