The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Edo gubernatorial election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, today presented his Certificate of Return to the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, solidifying his position as the party’s flagbearer.
The presentation ceremony took place at the Edo House in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, symbolizing a significant step in the candidate’s journey towards the Edo State Government House.
Dr. Ighodalo emerged victorious in the Edo PDP primary election held last Thursday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State. Defeating nine other aspirants, he showcased his popularity and widespread support within the party.
During the presentation, Dr. Ighodalo reiterated his commitment to the transformation and repositioning of Edo State as a leading sub-sovereign entity in Africa.
Expressing confidence in his chances of victory in the upcoming polls, he highlighted his extensive outreach to critical stakeholders in the party, including youths, women, the elderly, and party leaders.
The overwhelming support received from these quarters, he believes, will contribute to his success on election day.
In a bid to foster unity within the party, Dr. Ighodalo expressed his willingness to collaborate with other aspirants who share his commitment to the success of the PDP in the gubernatorial election.
Emphasizing the importance of presenting a united front, he assured that he is actively reaching out to all party members to ensure a cohesive strategy leading up to the elections in September.

He pledged to work collaboratively with the candidate and fellow party members to secure victory and retain the party’s seat in the Government House in Edo State.
