Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has criticized President Donald Trump, saying that his actions are driven by a self-serving agenda that benefits the wealthy and powerful.
Harris described Trump’s presidency as a realization of a long-cherished plan by conservatives to slash public education, shrink government, and privatize its services.
“What we are, in fact, witnessing is a high velocity event, where a vessel is being used for the swift implementation of an agenda that has been decades in the making.
“An agenda to slash public education. An agenda to shrink government and then privatize its services. All while giving tax breaks to the wealthiest.
“A narrow, self-serving vision of America where they punish truth-tellers, favor loyalists, cash in on their power, and leave everyone to fend for themselves,” she said.
Trump’s first 100 days in office have been marked by a series of executive orders that have sparked controversy and criticism from opponents.
Critics argue that Trump’s administration is overstepping democratic and constitutional norms, while his supporters have cheered some of the changes.
Recent polls have shown that a majority of the country is becoming disenchanted with the political and economic tumult caused by Trump’s policies.
Harris accused Trump of targeting universities and courts to cow the opposition and further his own agenda.
