A five-month old pregnant woman identified as Hana Mohammed Khodor who was beaten and and set on fire by her husband has reportedly died from the gruesome attack in Tripoli, Lebanon.
Twenty-one year old Hana was rushed to the hospital with severe burns all over her body after her husband used their house gas cylinder to incinerate her.
She reportedly died on Wednesday 17 August in Al-Salam hospital in Northern Tripoli, after 11 days of struggling to survive from the attack.
Reports have it that Hana’s husband, identified only by his initials A.A committed the wicked act on her because he wanted her to undergo an abortion, which she refused.
According to him, he did not want another child because of the extra financial burden it will bring upon him and his wife, moreso, they already have two children.
A doctor from the hospital reportedly told the media that Khodor was admitted on the 6th of August after suffering a 100 degree burn.
“The baby died and we had to operate on her to remove the fetus.
“Her chances of survival are very bleak.”
The husband of the victim who had been planning to flee the country, has been arrested by the Lebanese internal security force, this was according to the report given to Arab News by a friend to the family identified as Abdul Rahman Haddad.
Hana’s aunty told their local TV station that A.A got furious when his wife refused to terminate the pregnancy.
“When she refused to abort the baby, he took her home and set on fire using the gas cylinder, she said.
Khodor’s family had earlier sought for funds to help facilitate her treatment which involved blood transfusions and multiple surgeries but she unfortunately did not make it.
Hana’s case is amongst many cases of domestic violence which according to reports, have become prevalent in that part of the world.
