Manchester United have escalated their pursuit of RB Leipzig’s star striker Benjamin Sesko, submitting an official €85 million bid (€75 million guaranteed plus €10 million in add-ons) to secure the 22-year-old Slovenian’s signature, according to Bild.
The Red Devils’ move comes as a direct challenge to Newcastle United, who tabled a higher €90 million offer, including add-ons, to replace their wantaway striker Alexander Isak.
Despite Newcastle’s financial edge, sources suggest Sesko is leaning towards Old Trafford, with Sky Sports News reporting, “Sesko has been open to both projects — but one source has told Sky Sports News he is leaning towards Manchester United.”
United’s bid is strategic, with €5 million of the add-ons described as “easily achievable” to sway Leipzig, per TEAMtalk.

Sesko, who scored 21 goals and provided six assists in 45 appearances last season, is seen as a dynamic, 6ft 5in forward with the potential to emulate Erling Haaland.
His pace, power, and aerial ability make him a prime target for both Premier League clubs. Manchester United’s pursuit could spell uncertainty for current striker Rasmus Hojlund, with Leipzig exploring a loan deal for the Dane as part of negotiations, according to Sky Sports.
