After a challenging 18-month doping ban, French football superstar Paul Pogba is set to make a sensational return to the pitch with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

The 32-year-old World Cup winner has agreed to a two-year contract, marking his first professional stint in his homeland’s top division.

The deal, finalized after weeks of negotiations, awaits legal checks, with Pogba expected to arrive in Monaco within 24 hours for medical tests later this week.

Pogba, a former Manchester United and Juventus standout, has been a free agent since mutually terminating his contract with Juventus in November 2024, following a reduced suspension for testing positive for DHEA in 2023.

Despite interest from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad and other European clubs, Pogba prioritized Monaco’s ambitious project, reportedly making financial sacrifices to join the Champions League-bound side. Monaco, who finished third in Ligue 1 last season, view Pogba as a leader to guide their youthful squad.

The move is a major coup for Ligue 1, bringing a global star back to French football. Pogba, who last played competitively in September 2023, has expressed a renewed hunger for the game, aiming to reclaim his spot in France’s national team for the 2026 World Cup.

His experience and flair are expected to bolster Monaco’s midfield, offering tactical flexibility under coach Adi Hütter. Fans eagerly await Pogba’s return, with the transfer signaling a new chapter for both the player and the club.
